34th sketchcrawl, brussels, mim

brussels, 34th sketchcrawl... cold and rainy weather (as often...) so it was decided to sketch inside the mim (musical instruments museum that is). 7 dedicated and talented crawlers of which i knew no-one! except we have one universal language... and had a lot of fun. go and have a look at the results at http://www.sketchcrawl.com . there are some stunning images! i cannot wait for the next one...

it has been a long time, a very long time... i know. i apologize. but here i am, back after all these silent months! we have been busy shooting a new serie produced by the bbc & hbo based on a quartet of novels by ford madox ford. screen play by sir tom stoppard and directed by susanna white. lots of special effects, lots of weapons, quite a few drawings...

called "parade's end" it is expected for release sometime next year...

production had bought "tea" for the british crew! things were bound to start the wrong way!

INT. Hotel de la Poste - Christopher's bedroom - Rouen... and a whisky at the bar after a long and tedious first day of shooting...

alice au pays des caricoles

my son simon, his girlfriend alice and i went strolling down town to the flea market the other day. she said she would taste every belgian food available but stepped back when we passed by this "caricole" vendor! mind you, i would have done the same!

a week in preston

glover's court was wrongly branded the most crime-ridden street of england. i sat there, peacefully drawing for a while without anyone bothering me...the daily mirror is a poison.

brighton blues

first day in brighton, i've got the blues...

not allowed to sketch inside the royal pavillion, i sketch the outside instead, spend 3 wonderful days with cathy and john

and spoil myself on mugs...

then surya moved to the uk!

all packed & ready to go. preston here we come!

we stayed at "the park hotel" where everyone was really nice and helpful and started house hunting...

and between doing a lot of shopping and cleaning the flat,

i still managed to get a few sketches done!

franz bodo et premiers dessins de nuit...

à l'invitation de zabeth, nous allons au vernissage de l'exposition de franz bodo au sablon... allez donc faire un petit tour dans sa basse-cour: http://franzbodo.fr/

dans la nuit du lundi au mardi, quelques instants volés à largo winch pour qui nous établissons une pluie torrentielle pour une scène sensée se passer à genève, pourtant la nuit est douce et propice à un premier essai...

le lendemain re-belote le long du ring de bruxelles, la tour de refroidissement d'electrabel magnifiquement mise en lumière par http://www.magicmonkey.net/

pour solde de tout compte

i know i shouldn't say this, but this was probably the most boring shoot of my life. on the other hand it gave me time to draw bits & pieces of equipment...

visit an exhibition in the neighbourhood that i wouldn't have otherwise, but glad i did...

stick a piece of the wallpaper and draw the extraordinary tiles of the set (untouched by art dept)...

and spend the day watching barges go by... well maybe not that bad a shooting all things considered!
